Charcoal is good to keep on hand for spider bites, accidental ingestion of toxins or stomach bugs. It is even effective in whitening your teeth!

Charcoal has the ability to absorb many times its weight in toxins and is commonly used by doctors to remove poisons and other harmful compounds from the body.

It can be used before amalgam fillings are removed to absorb smaller particles of mercury if swallowed. The activated charcoal allows the particles to pass harmlessly through the body.

Dark coloured stools can be expected. Activated charcoal is not absorbed or digested.

Dosages

Activated charcoal is not to be taken regularly. Only use short-term for toxin or poison removal. It is best taken 2 hours away from other supplements or medications.

Amalgam removal:

Take 2 capsules fifteen minutes before the dental appointment starts and repeat the dosage immediately after.

Stomach bug:

Adults: Take 2x capsules with a full glass of water upon first signs of stomach bug and can repeat every two hours - can take up to 4g per day. Take extra water to combat constipation.

Children 3 years and older: open up a capsule and add the contents to ice water in a drinking container that will conceal the unattractive appearance.

Continue to administer until symptoms subside.
